Alabama Elite Fishing Guide - Jason Whitehead

About Us

Alabama Elite Fishing Guide – Jason Whitehead provides professional fishing electronics training and guided fishing experiences exclusively focused on Lake Guntersville in Guntersville, Alabama.

A USCG-licensed and insured charter captain, experienced tournament angler, and 2025 Lake Guntersville Guide of the Year, Jason has built Alabama Elite around one goal: helping anglers become more knowledgeable, confident, and successful on the water.

While traditional bass and crappie trips remain available, electronics training is at the heart of the business. Jason specializes in helping anglers understand and use forward-facing sonar, side imaging, down imaging, traditional sonar, mapping, GPS, and modern fishing technology in real-world conditions.

Instead of simply changing settings for you, Jason's approach is hands-on and educational. The goal is for you to understand what you're seeing, why you're seeing it, and how to apply that information when you're fishing on your own.

For anglers who want an even deeper understanding of Lake Guntersville, the Lake Guntersville Seasonal Package provides four seasonal trips designed to teach changing fish behavior, locations, techniques, and electronics strategies throughout the year.

Jason also offers professionally guided bass and crappie trips for individuals, families, youth, experienced fishermen, and tournament anglers.

With 200+ 5-star reviews, extensive Lake Guntersville knowledge, and a reputation for personalized service, Alabama Elite Fishing Guide has become a trusted choice for anglers who want more than simply another day of fishing.

If you're searching for a Lake Guntersville electronics expert, Lake Guntersville bass guide, or highly recommended Lake Guntersville fishing guide, contact Jason Whitehead at (256) 530-3306.

Our Story

For Jason Whitehead, fishing has never simply been a hobby.

His passion for the water began almost as soon as he could walk, when his father introduced him to fishing at an early age. By 15, Jason was already competing in bass tournaments and developing the skills, instincts, and understanding of fish behavior that would eventually become the foundation of Alabama Elite Fishing Guide.

As fishing technology evolved, so did Jason's expertise.

Modern electronics completely transformed how anglers locate fish, understand structure, interpret the underwater environment, and make decisions on the water. Jason became deeply focused on learning that technology and, more importantly, understanding how to apply it effectively in real fishing situations.

Today, electronics education makes up the majority of Alabama Elite Fishing Guide's work.

Jason helps anglers understand forward-facing sonar, side imaging, down imaging, traditional sonar, mapping, GPS, boat positioning, and the relationship between what appears on a screen and what is actually happening beneath the boat.

His philosophy is simple: an angler shouldn't have to depend on someone else to interpret their electronics forever.

The goal is to teach people how to understand their own equipment, make better decisions, locate fish more efficiently, and leave the water more confident than when they arrived.

Since launching Alabama Elite Fishing Guide in 2022, Jason has also continued sharing his knowledge through bass and crappie trips, seasonal instruction, youth fishing experiences, and personalized on-the-water coaching.

As a USCG-licensed and insured captain, accomplished tournament angler, 2025 Lake Guntersville Guide of the Year, and guide backed by 200+ 5-star reviews, Jason has developed a reputation for combining professional instruction with the kind of real-world knowledge that only comes from countless hours on Lake Guntersville.

Every experience is customized around the angler — whether that's mastering a new electronics system, preparing for tournament competition, understanding Lake Guntersville throughout the seasons, catching a first bass, or simply spending a memorable day on the water.

Testimonials

On 10/14/2026 RD3 had this to say:
Wow I just can't say enough about how great my experience was. I've invested thousands of dollars in fishing electronics and honestly felt lost trying to use it all. Jason had everything dialed in quickly. But more importantly he explained everything to me while I was watching. The fine tuning on modern electronics is vital. Jason is an absolute genius with this stuff but explains it in a way that anyone can understand. His demeanor and patience makes him a natural instructor. I feel so much more confident using my equipment now. I'm booking a series of seasonal trips through the package deal that he offers. On top of everything Jason's just a fun guy to fish with. It was a very educational and enjoyable experience. Really looking forward to my next trip.

Alabama Elite Fishing is a top notch guide service. Jason put us right on the bass immediately. He was great with the teenage boys, hustled to make sure they had everything needed to ensure the both caught their PBs. And they did just that! We will make this annual trip from KY and be sure to only fish with Alabama Elite Fishing Guide.
